In travelling further back in the family line to the father of Reverend Francis Johnson (of Berrow and Whitelackington), we traced our steps to South Stoke Hall outside Bath where Rajah Charles Brooke's grandfather, Reverend Charles Johnson lived at the turn of the 19th century. Reverend Johnson tutored his eleven children (including Rajah Charles's father) at home here at South Stoke.
