Bujang Sadok arrives at the Brooke Gallery

This 12-pounder cannon won the day in July 1861 at Mount Sadok, the hilltop fort of Rentap, the most formidable Dayak opponent of the first and second Rajahs.

Bujang Sadok arrives at the Brooke Gallery

At the time, it took 500 men – Malays, Dayaks and Chinese – to pull the cannon through the jungle and up the mountain’s steep inclines.  Today, it took a team of about a dozen from the Sarawak Museum  with the aid of a mechanical hoist to bring it into the Gallery, where it now sits proudly in the main lobby.
