Rebuilding Royalist

Rebuilding Royalist

Our ambition is to rebuild Sir James Brooke's famous schooner, Royalist, in Plymouth. We have completed the first phase of project planning and costing.

Support Our Work

The Trust continues its work through the generosity of our supporters and is reliant on donations to fund its projects

Royalist played an instrumental role in establishing the Raj of Sarawak, from James Brooke's first visit in 1839 until he became the first White Rajah of Sarawak in 1841.

A long term vision of the Trust is to build a replica of Royalist as a platform for experiential learning and outreach programs.  The Trust is still in its early stages of project inception. Research, design, project planning and costing have been completed, with further detailed project definition and development of an implementation strategy now being the next steps when we can re-prioritise our other commitments.

This project is currently paused as we focus our energies on our outreach programmes in Sarawak.  Upon its recommencement, the Trust plans to embark upon a fundraising campaign to seek funds for this significant project.  In the meantime, we will continue to provide updates on our Projects page.  We are always grateful for your support for our planned projects and donations are gratefully received through Support our Work.
